The 2007 FIA Formula One World Championship
is the start of a new era for the Etihad Aldar Spyker Formula
One team: its first full season at the highest level of global
motorsport.
The team’s journey started in September 2006 at
the Italian Grand Prix when Spyker Cars N.V acquired Midland
F1 Racing, formerly Jordan Grand Prix, from the Midland
Group. At the following Grand Prix in China, the team’s
newly designed livery, a bold combination of the Dutch
national colour orange and black, was launched on track
for the first time. In an exciting new development, the
team signed a major new title partnership deal on 15 March
2007 that saw it rebranded the Etihad Aldar Spyker Formula
One Team.
The partnership offered a perfect opportunity to combine
the desires of the Spyker brand and the vision of Michiel
Mol’s consortium of investors to promote their respective
values of performance, design, craftmanship and exclusivity
on a truly global stage.
Team principal Colin Kolles is now joined at the helm
of the team by Victor Muller, CEO of Spyker Cars, and Michiel
Mol, a dynamic e-commerce businessman with a history of
leading successful website developments. Together, the
team now enters a new era of technical innovation and renewed
commitment to succeed.
Spyker Formula One team launched its 2007 car and drivers
at Silverstone circuit, UK, and officially announce Fairuz
Fauzy as the test and reserve driver line-up for the 2007
season on 5th February 2007.
